Heather Smith is a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist who specializes in upper extremity orthopaedic conditions. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy from the University of Findlay. She completed her clinical work at Kettering Medical Center Acute Care Neuro Unit in Dayton, Ohio, and Century Health in Findlay, Ohio. Heather worked in the acute care department at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. While employed at Firelands, she also helped pioneer their cancer rehab program and worked with their inpatient rehab and transitional care units. Now Heather is the Rehab Department Manager at the Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio.
Thanks to her training and experience, Heather is equipped to skillfully treat upper extremity injuries and conditions, including traumatic and sports injuries, chronic conditions, and post-surgical recovery. She has experience with neurologic conditions such as CVA, ALS, and Parkinson’s. She is also skilled in the fabrication and use of custom splints to treat many conditions and injuries.
Heather spends her spare time with her husband and her cat. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and trying new cuisines. She also loves to stay active by working out and regularly participating in charity races.
