FAQs

Do I need a referral to visit Orthopaedic Urgent Care?

No. Referrals are not required. Patients can walk in directly for orthopaedic urgent care services.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is needed. Walk-ins are welcome during Orthopaedic Urgent Care hours. If you prefer, you may call ahead to check availability.

Spine (Back & Neck) Injuries: Patients with acute back or neck injuries are encouraged to be evaluated by a spine specialist. In this situation, appointments are recommended but same-day availability may be possible. Please call to check.

Will I need X-rays?

If imaging is needed, X-rays are available on-site during Orthopaedic Urgent Care hours. Not every injury requires an X-ray—our providers will determine what imaging is appropriate after evaluating your injury.

Why do Orthopaedic Urgent Care hours vary by location or day?

Orthopaedic Urgent Care hours may vary based on provider availability, clinic location, and patient demand. Because care is delivered by orthopaedic specialists, hours can differ from a traditional urgent care. We recommend checking our website or calling ahead for the most up-to-date hours.

Is Orthopaedic Urgent Care the same as a regular urgent care?

No. Orthopaedic Urgent Care is specialized care focused exclusively on bone, joint, and muscle injuries. Unlike general urgent care, you are evaluated by providers trained in orthopaedics, with access to orthopaedic imaging and follow-up care if needed.

Is Orthopaedic Urgent Care cheaper than the emergency room?

In most cases, yes. Orthopaedic Urgent Care is typically less costly and faster than an emergency room visit for non-life-threatening orthopaedic injuries.

What types of injuries should not be treated at Orthopaedic Urgent Care?

Orthopaedic Urgent Care is not appropriate for:

  • Head injuries or concussions

  • Heavy or uncontrolled bleeding

  • Chest pain or breathing problems

  • Severe burns or deep open wounds

For these conditions, please go to the emergency room or call 911.

Can Orthopaedic Urgent Care treat work-related or sports injuries?

Yes. We commonly treat sports-related injuries and work-related injuries, including sprains, strains, fractures, and joint injuries. We additionally offer a Sports Medicine Walk-In Clinic at our Lima location

What should I bring with me?

Please bring:

  • A photo ID

  • Medical Insurance card

  • Any prior imaging or medical records related to your injury

What happens after my visit?

If follow-up care is needed, we can help coordinate orthopaedic specialty care, physical therapy, or additional imaging within our practice.
