Meet Samir M. Patel M.D.

Dr. Samir Patel, M.D. is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery. He has earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery and an additional Certificate of Added Qualification in sports medicine. He is a member of the prestigious American Society of Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of community-based faculty at the University of Toledo College of Medicine Life Sciences (UTCOMLS). Dr. Patel is President and CEO of the Institute for Orthopaedic Surgery and Division Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center and Lima Memorial Health System. He is also the upper extremity team physician for athletes at the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH).

Dr. Patel graduated from West Virginia University Medical School and completed his internship and residency at West Virginia University. He completed a fellowship in upper extremity, microvascular, and hand surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA with internationally renowned Dr. Mark Baratz and Dr. Dean Sotereanos. He is the past president of the Academy of Medicine of Lima and Allen County (2013-2014). He has extensive training in shoulder replacement procedures, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, and disorders of the elbow, wrist, and hand including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tennis elbow, and CMC and wrist arthritis.

Dr. Patel specializes in disorders of the upper extremity, from the shoulder to the fingertip, and is accepting new patients at the office locations in Lima and St. Marys.
